Turtles have been living on our planet for more than two hundred and fifty million years. At present there are more than two hundred turtle species in the world. Sea turtles spend most of the time in the ocean, except for the breeding season. During their migration turtles can cross the sea, being guided by the sun and stars. Apart from that, they have the ability to “smell” their home land on the open sea. This smell is being carried by the ocean currents. Let us paint a turtle swimming in the ocean looking for adventures.

Tools and Materials:

White paper.
Yellow or brown paint for the turtle.
Blue paint for the sea.
Black marker.

Step-by-step instructions:

Put some brown or yellow paint on your hand.

Make a handprint in the middle of the piece of paper. Press the hand tight to the paper with the help of the second hand.

The print of the thumb is going to be the neck and head of the turtle. The head should be above the water so you have to locate the thumb so that it is not pressed to the hand, but rather is directed straight down. When you rotate the piece of paper, the head will be in its upper part.

Rotate the piece of paper so that the fingerprints are directed downwards. Paint the waves and the depths of the sea. Be careful, the blue color should not cover the turtle’s legs. Let the paint dry.

Draw the turtle’s eyes and smile with a marker, and then draw the contour of the shell. Draw the scales on the shell with a marker and fill them up with dashed lines.
