Handprint Paper Girl Octopus
Making appliqués is one of the most favorite children’s activities. Kids enjoy cutting out and gluing on various parts and details, making lovely appliqués from colored paper. And if you combine several techniques in one creative process, then your kid will certainly be delighted! Moreover, such an activity teaches your kid how to make a whole thing from separate parts. Try making this original appliqué with your kid, this is going to be fun!
Tools and Materials:
- Pink, yellow, white, blue, red paper
- Glue
- Pencil
- Scissors
Step-by-step instructions:
1
Trace around your hand on pink paper. Cut it out. It’s very important to let your kid experiment with scissors and paper on his or her own. However, you should watch these experiments and participate in them if necessary. This way experience is gained which is not confined to only one technique, and this contributes to the development of intelligence and creative thinking.
2
Draw a skirt and a bow on yellow paper. Our octopus is a very stylish one. Cut some circles out of pink paper, these are going to be decorations for the bow. Draw two ovals on white paper and cut them out. Cut small circles out of blue paper, these are going to be the pupils in the octopus’s eyes. Cut the mouth out of red paper. Now all the parts are ready. Let’s get down to gluing them on.
3
Glue the cut-out handprint to the paper with the fingers down. Not it’s the turn of white ovals and blue circles. Glue on the beauty’s eyes. Then glue on the mouth. To make the image complete, glue on the nice bow and short skirt. You’ve done a great job!
